British Sandwich Week

Need lunch on the go? These are my current sarnie faves at Festival Place shopping centre:

Vine Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil Panini, Café Nero – everyone loves a panini and when it comes to the Italian toastie, you can’t beat the classic tomato, mozzarella and basil.

Sweet Chilli Chicken Bloomer, Greggs – big chewy white bloomer, packed with chicken and given extra zing with a slick of sweet chilli sauce. Naughty but nice!

Build your own sandwich, Café Giardino – Not sure what you fancy? Take a look at the fresh fillings on offer in the counter and buy one custom built to your specification. I love crispy bacon and avocado with lots of salad and mayo.

Cheese and Salad on Granary, Costa Coffee – my friend swears by these rolls, claiming that the seeded granary bread keeps her going for longer in the afternoon than any other sandwich (though she is also a cheese-oholic!)

Tandoori Chicken on Flatbread, Subway – part of their low fat range, this is a great combination of spicy chicken and cooling raita. The flatbread is a good option if you’re cutting down the carbs and you can feel virtuous by packing it full of all those subway salads.

What’s your idea of sandwich heaven and do you bring them from home or buy then in your lunch hour?

Happy nibbling!
